The Europaeum is a network of 18 leading European universities that connects students and faculty in the humanities and social sciences across disciplines, cultures, and countries. Its flagship initiative, the Europaeum Scholars Programme, offers a high-quality education for Europe’s next generation of leaders.

Supported by TWCF since its launch in 2017, the Programme has a strong track record of identifying and supporting talented, energetic, and committed doctoral candidates from across the network. Its aim is to create a morally aware cadre of young leaders who can work collaboratively, think across disciplines, and are committed to shaping a fairer, more globally responsible Europe.

The previous round of funding supported a cohort of Scholars through a series of modules focused on training and discussion around pressing global issues, as well as the production of policy papers and briefs.

Building on this success, this round will support the Programme in delivering a fifth cohort of up to 32 Scholars, enhancing the content and efficiency of the program, establishing a sustainable fundraising infrastructure to support its long-term viability, and continuing to build a pan-European network of ethical leaders. Through “learning by doing,” participants will collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver original policy projects. These will culminate in written policy reports and briefs designed to influence debates at European, national, and local levels.

Project outputs will also include a series of intensive program modules, a high-level policy conference in Brussels, alumni events both in person and online, and the development of fundraising support for future cohorts through the hire of a part-time development specialist.

Alumni engagement is a central component of the program. Graduates will be supported through a mini-grants scheme, an ongoing digital forum, and opportunities to return as mentors or teaching fellows, reinforcing the growing network of ethically-minded European leaders.
