A project led by Drew Rick-Miller of Science for the Church (SftC) seeks to produce and deliver scientific findings and resources aimed at helping clergy, pastors, and church leaders to appreciate how knowledge produced by the sciences can strengthen their ministries. To do so, they aim to collate, organize and translate TWCF-funded research and related scientific topics into content at a level that is suitable and attractive to church leaders. They plan to focus on research related to TWCF’s Forgiveness, Building the Field of Human Flourishing, Listening and Learning in a Polarized World, and The Science of Religious and Spiritual Experiences priorities.
A series of outputs, including newsletters, videos, webinars, seminars, church programs, and a Bible study or devotional, is planned with the intention of helping SftC’s church-facing audience understand the relevant research, get to know some of TWCF’s grantees, and begin to translate the science into their ministry context. The target audience will be their 4,000+ newsletter readers, ~20,000 social media followers, and a network of hundreds of pastors, congregations, and church-facing partners. This work will support SftC’s broader mission to see the churches strengthened through engagement with the sciences. In their words, SftC’s vision is for “churches to read both the Book of Scripture and the book of nature [science] as sources to understand God and creation.”
