What role does reconciliation play in resolving conflict? How can empathy aid pandemic recovery? How can we encourage compassion in decision-making as a means of increasing access to justice?

These questions underpin the work that The Elders will undertake in this project. As part of its five-year forgiveness initiative, Templeton World Charity Foundation has partnered with The Elders, a leading philanthropic organization founded by Nelson Mandela.

Building on the inaugural Forgiveness Forum in December 2020, The Elders Foundation will discuss the importance of forgiveness with a global audience throughout 2021. They will embark on a series of collaborative projects, including an initiative with the platform “On Being with Krista Tippett” that convenes a series of discussions about forgiveness and the state of hope in the world. These digital-hybrid gatherings will bring together members of The Elders and citizens from communities impacted by reconciliation, empathy and justice. The story of these gatherings will be told through social media, video, and podcasts.
