The Europaeum is a network of 18 of Europe’s premier universities connecting students and faculty in the humanities and social sciences across disciplines, cultures, and countries. This project concerns the Europaeum Scholars Programme, which aims to create a morally aware cadre of talented young people who have developed leadership qualities, have learned how to work collaboratively, and are committed to shaping the future of Europe for the better.

The Europaeum Scholars Programme is founded on the philosophy that education should go beyond academic training to encompass the full range of knowledge, skills, and values needed to thrive at the top levels of today’s complex, interlinked, and fast-changing Europe. This unique professional development and policy course has rapidly established a strong track record in identifying and attracting the most talented, energetic, and committed doctoral candidates from across the Europaeum network.

After completing a two-year proof of concept grant from TWCF, the project is to fund two years of the Europaeum Scholars Programme offering a bespoke, gold standard education for Europe’s next generation of leaders. This unique professional development and policy course has rapidly established a strong track record in identifying and attracting the most talented, energetic and committed doctoral candidates from across the Europaeum network.

Multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional, and multi-locational, the program is set within the context of contemporary European policy. It focuses on developing Scholars’ character virtues, skills, leadership qualities, and ethical understanding. Scholars work on policy projects of their design, receive professional training, and discuss the latest thinking on policy with leading practitioners from various sectors. With professional mentoring and a new alumni network, the Europaeum supports these committed individuals as they become established leaders in their chosen fields.
