Michael Bloom

Principal Advisor for Individual Freedom and Free Markets

Michael Bloom is the Principal Advisor for Individual Freedom and Free Markets, one of the foundation’s core funding areas. He also advises the foundation on strategic communications. He co-founded Learn25, an educational multimedia company that produces and distributes educational audio and video courses by leading professors and provides media consulting services to universities and research teams worldwide.

Previously, Michael was COO and general partner of The Teaching Company (The Great Courses), which was successfully sold in 2006 to the private equity firm Brentwood Associates. For several years, he served on the boards of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington and the Jesuit Refugee Service/USA. Michael is past president of the University of Chicago Alumni Club of Washington, DC. 

He earned his B.S. from Boston University, an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and has completed an executive education program at Harvard and Northwestern Universities.
