Michael Bloom, CEO of TBG Consulting, is the Principal Advisor for Communications, and also provides strategy and grantmaking consultation to the foundation.
Michael and his TBG colleagues provide strategy, market research, media, and communications consulting services to grant-making foundations and universities. He also founded Learn25, a multimedia company that produces and distributes educational audiobooks and video recordings of university lectures. Michael previously served as the CMO of PBS Teacherline.
Michael was COO and general partner of The Teaching Company (The Great Courses), which was successfully sold in 2006 to the private equity firm Brentwood Associates. For several years, he served on the Board of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, where he led the communications committee and served on its strategic planning task force. He has also served on the board of the Jesuit Refugee Service/USA, where he chaired the board’s communications committee. Michael led a task force that developed a five-year strategic plan and another that spearheaded a collaboration with a consortium of colleges and universities to provide distance-learning courses to refugees. Michael is past president of the University of Chicago Alumni Club of Washington, DC. He earned his B.S. from Boston University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
